Afghanistan Aid Program Performance Report 2012–13

Summary of publication

This report summarises progress in Australia's aid program to Afghanistan from January 2012 to July 2013.

Australian aid is making a measurable contribution under the four objectives of our Afghanistan Country Strategy. Humanitarian assistance is tracking consistently. Progress in education and health, rural development and agriculture, and effective governance, is uneven; a reflection of the real challenges of working in Afghanistan and the impact of 30 years of conflict.

This report finds that the Australian aid program is relevant to Afghanistan's development priorities, and is aligned with Australia's overall aid strategy. It points to evidence of Australia's commitment to development effectiveness principles of mutual accountability, donor coordination and harmonisation, and the importance of an active policy and international engagement role for Australia in Afghanistan.
