South and West Asia Regional Aid Program Performance Report 2012–13

Summary of publication

This report summarises the Australian Government's aid program under the South and West Asia Regional Program of activities in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka in 2012–13.

The Australian Government's support through the South and West Asia Regional Program achieved significant development outcomes in 2012–13, including assisting around 6,000 internally displaced people in Sri Lanka to resume home-food production and helping 117 million people to access clean water and sanitation.

The APPR also explains the regional program's planned transition from a disparate, multi-sectoral, multi-country program to one that will address two important development objectives for Australia in South Asia: enhancing water, food and energy security; and enhancing regional trade and economic connectivity.
